Canker Sore & Cold Sore Remedy

Knowing how to distinguish between canker sore and cold sore will get you the right care.

Canker Sores occur inside the mouth and usually triggered by an injury such as biting your cheek or by acidic foods such as tomatoes. Bacteria in your mouth make these ulcers worse.

Remedy:
Rinse daily with antiseptic mouthwash or a solution of equal parts 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and water. Then apply an over-the-counter cream or gel for canker sore to protect the area.

Cold Sores occur outside the mouth or on hard surfaces within. This sore is caused by herpes simplex virus, which stays dormant in the body until something triggers it like stress, fever and sun exposure. You develop a reddish sore, followed by a cluster of blisters, which crust over.

Remedy:
There’s over the counter or prescription cream to treat this sore. This herpes is contagious so make sure that you wash your hands all the time to avoid spreading of virus. No close contact to other person or sharing personal belonging with them.
